Joy has always had a deep passion for helping others be happy. Through many years of education and hard work, she has gained a skill set that helps her utilize that passion to help others learn and grow. She believes that with the right set of tools, everyone has the power to become who and what they want to be. Her goal is to provide you with those tools and work side-by-side with you as you journey towards the best version of you that you can be.
Throughout the past 10 years, Joy has worked with a variety of different populations including children’s behavioral and mental health, juvenile corrections, adult mental health, home health and hospice, pediatric bereavement, and maternal mental health. After being trained in EMDR, Joy’s passion for working with trauma grew and has become one of the central focuses of her practice. Because of her multidimensional background she aims to provide each client with a well-rounded approach and understands the importance of meeting them where they are.
Joy obtained her Masters in Social Work from Utah Valley University and her Bachelors in Social Work from Brigham Young University of Idaho. She is trained in EMDR, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy along with other evidence- and empirically-based practices. She continuously works to expand her knowledge of best practices and trauma informed care.
When she isn’t working with clients, Joy enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids going camping, being outside, and roadtripping. She also enjoys going shopping, spending time with friends, and trying out new restaurants. She loves trying new food, especially culturally diverse food, but is a die hard sushi lover.
