With a career spanning over twenty years, Peggy brings passion, dedication as well as her years of experience helping individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, all types of addictions and persistent recurring self-sabotaging behaviors that prevent them from building a life of joy, happiness, and deep satisfying personal relationships.
Peggy believes that many of these conditions are the result of unresolved trauma, and by getting at the underlying causes of these conditions clients can let go of negative, self-defeating beliefs that keep them ‘stuck’ and replace old ‘scripts’ with adaptive self-talk and effective coping strategies.
Her previous experience includes work with adolescents, couples and families dealing with complicated grief and loss related to death, divorce, and difficult stage of life transitions. She has spent much of her career working with individual, couples, and families who are dealing with substance use and other forms of addiction.
Peggy has received extensive training in CBT, Trauma informed CBT, DBT(Dialectical Behavior Therapy), EMDR, as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy, a form of EMDR that works quickly to reduce the intensity of trauma responses and provide relief and hope within a few sessions. She incorporates the use of Mindfulness exercises, Mind-Body Bridging tools, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. Because of her passion for working with individuals dealing with unresolved trauma, Peggy has received advanced trauma training from some of the leaders in the field, including Spirit2Spirit Healing with Judy Crane, Psychodrama trauma work with Tian Dayton, and Experiential Trauma healing with Onsite.
Peggy obtained a Masters degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah, and is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. She has facilitated DBT training workshops and Psychodrama training groups. Peggy is a member of the American Counseling Association.
Growing up in Utah, Peggy enjoys her family’s love of fishing, camping, and traveling throughout all the beautiful areas Utah. She enjoys artistic hobbies which also influences her passion for her career which she believes is ‘as much an art as it is a science”.
