Alex joined the mental health field later in life, because he is passionate about helping people navigate the challenges and obstacles that people experience in life. Alex has a unique perspective and a varied set of personal and professional experience that has helped prepare him to become a therapist. Some of this experience includes being a husband and father, serving in his church community, working in corporate America, and serving in the Army Reserves. Through these life’s experiences, he has developed a strong passion for helping people repair and strengthen relationships. He is also committed to helping his client’s find their strengths within and utilizing them in therapy.
Alex shares, “I love listening, asking questions, and making connections. I love to help people find their strength and wisdom within themselves. I am a big advocate for all of my clients, not judging them and their struggles. We are all in this together.”
Alex is committed to helping people learn new skills to help them to better understand their emotions and how their brain works. He specializes in working with pornography addiction and with couples/relationships. He believes that “success is helping his clients find and increase their joy through education and learned skills.”
Education & Training
Alex received a BS in Psychology from UVU and completed his masters in Social Work from the University of Utah. He uses a strength based, client centered approach, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), the Gottman Method and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
Alex is a Utah native, married to his wife for 30+ years and is a father of 5 children. He enjoys traveling, especially seeing new places and things, and trying new foods.
