Cameron John, PhD
Psychologist, Specializing in Individual Therapy, Adolescents, and Psychological Testing
Cameron found his passion for psychology during his undergraduate education. He had excellent instructors who also worked as therapists, and this intrigued him. He quickly learned the educational path needed and he focused on reaching that goal. As part of the journey, he worked in adolescent group homes as front-line worker and as an after-care counselor. An additional curiosity was the area of psychological testing and that became his major focus in his doctoral studies. His current research interests focus on clinically related issues, psychological testing, and cultural influences on individuals.
As a therapist, Cameron utilizes a collaborative approach creating a space where experiences and ideas can be explored to gain understanding. With this knowledge it is possible to create newperspectives, move forward with life transitions and ultimately a path towards healing. He uses methods that support clients in their life journey including emotion focused approaches, various cognitive strategies, and contemporary psychoanalytic theory. Onesize does not fit all and a concerted effort to find what works best is paramount.
Cameron earned a BS in psychology from Weber State University and a doctorate in EducationalPsychology from the University of Arizona. Cameron is a life-long learner and strives to stay current in the field.
Cameron is married and a father of six adult children. He has a dog and three cats. He enjoysreading, teaching, listening to music (progressive rock) and is a fan of college and professionalsports.
