    Daniel Barnes, CSW, SUDC

Specializing in OCD, High-masking Neurodivergence (Neuro-affirming approach), Twice Exceptional (2e), Trauma, and Addictions

    **Supervised by Cameron John, PhD

Daniel Barnes is a Certified Social Worker and Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor whose work is grounded in both professional expertise and lived experience. His own recovery, beginning in 2008, shapes the authentic empathy and non-judgmental presence he brings to his clients. Since 2012, Daniel has supported individuals and families through a relational, collaborative, and compassion-centered approach.

In addition to his expertise of OCD and addiction, over the past several years, Daniel has developed a strong passion and growing specialization in working with neurodivergent individuals —particularly those with ADHD, Level 1 Autism, AuDHD, and Twice Exceptional (2e) who present with high masking, burnout, and co-occurring anxiety, OCD, or trauma. Through extensive research, continuing education, personal and clinical experience, and client outcomes, Daniel has become especially skilled at supporting clients navigating the complexities of neurodivergence, identity exploration, and chronic masking fatigue.

Daniel has completed multiple specialized training, including advanced work in Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) for neurodivergent individuals with OCD. He has been accepted into the I-CBT Association for OCD specialists.

Daniel graduated with honors and distinction with his Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University and his Bachelor of Behavioral Science in Psychology (cum laude) from Utah Valley University, where he also completed his Substance Use Disorder Counseling certification. His clinical background, since 2012, includes outpatient therapy, rehab and recovery programs, adolescent treatment settings, and extensive work with families in therapeutic transitions.

Daniel integrates Person-Centered Therapy, I-CBT, IFS/parts work, ERP, DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Experiential approaches, Feminist Theory, Attachment, and Family Systems to create individualized, affirming, and strengths-based treatment plans.
