The Impact of Technology on Your Relationship
It is becoming an increasingly important issue with couples as they complain about feeling “disconnected” or ignored by their partner. In this age of technology, we need to be more aware of how this technology is sabotaging our relationships. For example, we may miss opportunities to connect with our partner or simply ignore bids for connection, because we are too distracted with our smartphones or computers. There is a time and a place for using technology, but when it disrupts the time we could be connecting with each other, it can often result in a negative impact on our relationships.
The Gottman Institute posted an article discussing this topic. I encourage you to read the article and then think of some ways you can increase your awareness of how technology impacts your relationship and how you might be more intentional with the use of technology when you are with those you love and care about.
